One day in class, Kenny kept staring at me. He seemed puzzled by my face, so I turned to look at him. He peered into my eyes for a moment, then his own widened in surprise.
"LAN SE!!!" he yelled in amazement. "Lan se!"

Now. China's population is 95% Han Chinese. Imagine if everyone you had ever seen in your four years of life all had eyes the same color. Imagine one day you realized your teacher's were different.
I knew what Kenny was yelling. It was "BLUE!!!"

One of my university students in Taiwan was mesmerized by our eyes. He was like 'we all have black eyes! But you guys have rainbow eyes!'
